ARFID Recovery at Home Program

At Home For Balance, our ARFID Recovery at Home Program is a structured, compassionate program that combines Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for ARFID (CBT-AR), Family Based Therapy for ARFID (FBT), ERP (Exposure and Response Prevention), and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) to help children, teens, and adults increase their resources to face their food anxiety.
Sensory sensitivity, low appetite, lack of interest in eating, and fear of negative consequences like getting sick, choking, or vomiting can deeply impact a person's relationship with food. Through personalized skills and gradual, supported food exposures, participants learn to navigate fear and discomfort, expand food variety, and build confidence around eating, all within everyday life and with the support of their parents and treatment team.
We know that feeding challenges go far beyond “picky eating.” For many children and teens, food can feel overwhelming, unpredictable, or even unsafe. Our structured, compassionate, evidence-based program helps young people—and their parents—develop greater flexibility, confidence, and comfort around food.

ARFID can affect adults, too. Many adults have lived with food-related anxiety, sensory sensitivities, low interest in eating, or fear of uncomfortable consequences for years, sometimes without realizing their experience has a name. We provide compassionate, individualized treatment to help adults build confidence, increase flexibility, and develop a more comfortable and nourishing relationship with food.
