Allison Ford, LMHC
Trauma and Eating Disorders Focus
I have worked with Home for Balance since 2019, supporting individuals as they navigate life transitions, stress, trauma, eating disorders, OCD, DID, chronic pain, and many other challenges that come with being human. I have a special passion for working with athletes—a population close to my heart as a former collegiate athlete myself. I understand how identity, values, and lived experiences shape the way we relate to ourselves and the world, and I approach this work with curiosity, compassion, and attuned care.

My therapeutic style is warm, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based practices. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I see therapy as a safe, supportive space—one where difficult thoughts, emotions, and experiences can be explored at a pace that feels aligned with your needs.

I am trained in EMDR and offer EMDR intensive sessions, which provide focused, extended support for those looking to process trauma, reduce distress, or make meaningful progress in a shorter period of time. Intensives can be especially helpful if you’re feeling “stuck,” have a busy schedule that makes weekly therapy difficult, or want to complement ongoing therapeutic work.

I earned my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University in Davie, Florida. My clinical experience spans multiple levels of care, including community mental health, crisis stabilization, outpatient nonprofit services, and residential eating disorder treatment. These experiences have shaped my belief in meeting people where they are and honoring the resilience, individuality, and complexity of each person’s healing journey.

In addition to my work at Home for Balance, I am affiliated with The National Alliance for Eating Disorders in advocacy and therapeutic capacities. I value the role of advocacy and ongoing engagement with current clinical research and field developments as essential to providing thoughtful, ethical care.

Outside of the therapy room, you’ll often find me at the dog park with my husky, in a yoga class, or soaking up the Florida sunshine with friends.

My services are LGBTQ+ inclusive, HAES-aligned, and culturally sensitive.
